Being a Network Marketing Leader – Learning to Think for Yourself

There is a phrase I’m pretty certain everyone has heard - “Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way”. Did you know it was first penned by Thomas Paine, the radical propagandist and voice of the common man, during the American Revolutionary period? In respects it aptly applies to network marketing and being a network marketing leader.

If you are a network marketer at some time you had to have started by being a follower. You started by knowing nothing about the industry and were typically at the mercy of your upline sponsor for training. You did what ever they were trained to do. If you were very, very lucky your sponsor had some industry savvy and you advanced. But, it was and remains pretty much a roll of the dice for the new person.

Every astute network marketing sponsor wants their followers to develop into leaders. It assures duplication, leverage and growth. The tricky part is we all typically follow only one upline sponsor at a time. We get a single limiting perspective of the industry.

The question then becomes how to get the knowledge to transform from follower to a leader? How do those who want to seriously work the business begin thinking for themselves and begin taking on a leadership role?

To become a leader one will have to develop one’s self, begin to do the things leaders do, even when it is uncomfortable, even when one fails. Leaders learn to and do think for themselves. Leaders surround themselves with like minded leaders. Leaders look outside the proverbial “box” to innovate as well as duplicate.

A quick word of caution is proffered if you should choose to go through the process of becoming a leader and learning to think for yourself. Many followers proclaim to be a network marketing leader with no veracity to their claim. They think they are leaders when they are actually followers doing what their leader told them to do. In reality, they are being taught what to think, thus thinking for yourself becomes a necessary requirement.

When someone distinguishes that they are a follower merely regurgitating what their leader put in their thoughts they have actually broken a barrier between being a follower and taking on true leadership.

About Rick Lelchuk and Lynn Gorfine

RICK LELCHUK

Hi, I’m Rick Lelchuk and I have lived for many years in sunny, wet, windy and sunny again South Florida. I was born in beer town – Milwaukee – but raised in Miami. Miami used to be a quiet resort town and Miami Beach was a quiet place to retire. Today it is a metropolis of asphalt and concrete that stretches more than 60 miles north to south and 20 to 25 miles wide. Fly into Miami some time and you’ll get the picture.

I have two grown sons from my first marriage and the boys and I enjoy a fabulous relationship. We exchange bear hugs every time we see each other. Nice. Neither is married yet and I’m in no hurry to be a grandfather. So, that’s OK by me. Both of my sons approve of my second and final marriage. They had mixed feelings about some of the women in between. Guess they knew something I didn’t.

Having spent 20 years in the trade show and hospitality business I retired from that industry after a “friend” kept a sizable amount of money that belonged to me. As luck would have it, the money was unsecured (I trusted), the courts were slow (not like on TV) and he closed his company leaving me empty handed.

I’m glad though to have retained a trusting nature even after losing that 5-digit sum of money.

Left without a business I drifted for a couple of years searching for the “right” thing to do.

Almost from the start I knew I had to be an independent business entrepreneur. It’s my paternal heritage; it’s in the blood. I knew I’d make a lousy employee. Besides, Dad was always on his own, never working for a boss and I had chosen to follow in his footsteps.

So, as with many, network marketing was the most logical vehicle to independent success. It is inexpensive to get started, it holds the greatest potential and it is something I knew I could sink my teeth into.

It has been an amazing ride with its ups and downs from uplines with no sense of direction, heavy hitter space commander gurus and, fortunately, a couple of really great mentors and coaches. With much extensive personal development and training under my belt, frustrations and personal victories too I have managed to come forth in triumph and success.

I now know who I am looking for to share my business journey with and who to steer clear of. My personal philosophy in network marketing has evolved to bringing people into a duplicatable system, but a system that is individually tailored. By the nature of being humans we are all different. So, one system cannot possibility satisfy everyone in an organization. Duplication is essential but individuality still rules. That is why I like to teach the people I sponsor to work with the people they sponsor within a system on an individual basis. What works for one will not work for another. With sufficient choices and a variety of methods to promote network marketing everyone can find success.

If you have the desire to control your destiny, the time to invest in your future and a small start up of around $200.00, my team and I will stand by your side and assure your success.

LYNN GORFINE

There is a secret to a great relationship and I am blessed to have stumbled upon it. By becoming good friends before becoming lovers; my husband, Rick Lelchuk, and I created a solid foundation for a life-long partnership.

We live in sunny and hot South Florida. Having been born and raised in Miami Beach, I am a third generation Floridian; a rarity in a place that is a true melting pot of the Caribbean

Leaving the state to see what it was like somewhere else, I went to Missouri to get my bachelors degree in Interior Design. Returning to South Florida, I became a fabric designer (work that I love) and have actually had 2 or 3 careers since that business moved off shore.

I know that trading hours for dollars was not going to fulfill my dreams. Rick and I truly believe in Network Marketing and the freedoms that creating and building a thriving business from home provides. It was the best thing we could have done because it led us to the best business model and a weight management class that changed our lives.

Need I say much more than those two pictures? I must have really been in love with Rick because we were both pretty chunky. The secret between the two pictures is eating a low glycemic diet for our metabolic body type. Not only did we drop pounds and inches, but we felt a whole lot better.

The real joy in all of this is to have found something that works for everyone, every time. Sharing this education so others experience the benefits of healthy eating habits has been outstandingly rewarding.

Results that people report vary from really good to fabulous. Not only do the pounds and inches shed but many old ailments, blood sugar imbalances, joint aches and pains and sleepless nights also dissipate. Doctors are amazed at the progress of their patients and all they can say is keep doing what youve been doing! And, its safe for all ages.

I am excited about never having to diet again and I want you to feel that excitement too. Dieting is such a bore. I dont count calories, weigh my food, calculate points or buy expensive specialty plan foods. Having learned the FAT2Lean plan ONCE I get to use it for LIFE and so can you.

I am a very happy camper to have found a worthwhile program to share with you.

For the most part I've found people to be pretty similar everywhere I go. It seems we all want to be financially free, satisfied in our work and know that we've made a contribution to another - actually made a difference for another.

It's most helpful when there are others who have preceded you to light the path, and leave footprints in the sand. I want to provide that for others.

One final thought, if youve made it this far. It doesnt matter why you are here on Facebook, it does not matter at all if you dont have your health.

When you are well,
life is all about what you want.

When you are sick,
life is all about getting well.

Start - Stardate 11.03.2008

Start with enthusiasm.

Start with 25 ways to promote a business and mix in a fresh dose of renewed enthusiasm. Choosing ways to promote that match my personality and the journey takes on new dimensions to again boldly go, go, go!

Change - Stardate 10-27-2008

Change the thinking.

It is near impossible to see the big picture when at ground level and while shrouded in mystique. Taking a peek from a new perspective gives rise to positive change.

STOP - Stardate 10.23.2008 Supplemental

Stop the unproductive.

For the past year I have worked a single focus system to build my network marketing business. Looking hard at myself in the mirror asking the tough questions I came to the conclusion it was time to leave that plan behind and course correct.

Star Date 10.23.2008 – Captain’s Log – Final Entry

I love Star Trek. It was always good vs. evil, right vs. wrong, light vs. dark and it came with a moral and a happy ending.

For months now, while on this part of my network marketing journey, something had just not been sitting right with me. I could not put my finger on it, but it kept me up at night starring into the vast emptiness of space and my computer screen, too.

Network marketing is supposed to be fun, empowering and profitable but it had become a struggle. My bank account was supposed to be growing and it’s in worse shape it than it was when I started this latest journey.

Now, I know some might say my belief level was insufficient, my desire was weak or that I hadn’t said my personal mantra the right number of times everyday or maybe I just didn’t ask for enough help. Maybe they’re right, maybe not. What is crystal clear for me is that after more than a year on this path results have not been produced and questions abound.

I began wondering if I was the only one feeling like this?

So, as any good captain, responsible for putting food on his table, it was time to retreat to the solitude of my quarters and give the course of the past year a good going over.

I have done that. And, I stepped cautiously out of the old paradigm, taken off the virtual blinders, stepped over the mystique to take a look from a different perspective. Piece by piece I looked at the components only to find more and more unsettling answers.

At first I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t want to. How could this be? Why, it’s not right. Why didn’t I see this before? This can’t be happening to me!

Anger set in. I had put my faith on the line, traveled a year in a certain direction and found my hopes and dreams still light-years away. Maybe if I just try a little harder for a little longer the result will turn out differently. Maybe if I believe a little more my results will turn around.

Then I experienced overwhelming sadness. I felt duped, betrayed and conned and nowhere to look but in the mirror. There were times when the despair was deep and penetrating. I knew I was responsible for my own results.

At long last I accepted the fact that it was a mistake for me, my mistake, and it was now time to bury the past and get ready for what comes next on the journey. I can now smile to myself knowing it’s time to conclude this phase and move forward to find a bright rising star
